Obituary

Peter E. O’Grady, 92 of Huntley, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

He was born October 13, 1925 in Chicago, the son of John and Margaret (Heneghan) O’Grady. He grew up in Chicago and following high school, enlisted in the United States Marines. He was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Fritsch on August 30, 1952. The couple made their home in Chicago where they raised their family. Peter worked as a police officer for the Chicago Police Department retiring as a lieutenant in 1982 after 34 years of service. In 1967 Peter and Dorothy purchased the family farm in Huntley and in time established and operated Edgebrook Real Estate for many years. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Julia O’Grady and Susan O’Grady both of Crystal Lake, Anne O’Grady-Kubicek of Sedalia, Colorado and Rosemary (Chris) Burzynski of Huntley, his grandchildren, Robert, Joshua, Eric, Peter, Susan, Anthony, Paul, Maggie, Molly, Peter, Gillian, Harley, Colton, Amanda, Christopher, Tom, Chris, Connor, Grace, Nick and Brandy and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and his sons, Peter and Paul.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road Huntley, and on Saturday, April 14th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. I know it’s been 4 years since you’ve been gone. I’m sorry I didn’t get to know you, I’m Patricia vanvrankins youngest child. You were my uncle, I know we would have many things to talk about.
