Victor J. Zirkel, 81 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Centegra Hospital in Huntley.
He was born March 13, 1936 in Hollis, New York, the son George and Frances (Neumann) Zirkel. He was united in marriage to Kathryn A. Lesewig on October 12, 1962 in Lakeview, New York.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Huntley, his sons, Rich (Jackie) Zirkel of Lafayette, CA, and Doug (Lana) Zirkel of Bartlett, IL, his grandchildren, Carly, Christian, Chloe, Mason and Riley, his sister, Gladys Wunsch of New York, his brothers, Don Zirkel and Jerry (Evelyn) Zirkel of New York and Gene (Pat) Zirkel of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Mary and Kathryn, his sisters, Peggy Maura and Gloria Simek and his brother, Raymon Zirkel.
Vic, along with his wife Kathy, were owners of 3 retail businesses. He will be remembered for writing amazing poetry, his love of music and Notre Dame football. Vic was a longtime member of CFM (Christian Family Movement) and an active servant at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church in Park Ridge, IL as well as St. Mary in Huntley, IL. He will be remembered for being an amazing husband, father, uncle, brother, son and friend to all! If you ever met him you would have been touched by his love, patience, kindness, sense of humor, big blue eyes and admiration for his savior Jesus Christ!
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. and the family will greet friends after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road in Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haitian Ministry at St. Mary Catholic Church.
