Rosario (Rosie) was born October 5, 1941 in Lupao, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, the daughter of Carlos and Emilia Castañeda. She studied engineering at Mapua Institute of Technology and went on to get a degree in Industrial Chemistry at Adamson University in Manilla. While in school, Rosie started working at the Bureau of Mines, where she began her career as a drafter. On January 11, 1968, she married Antonio (Tony) Jundos. They moved to the United States in 1969 where she soon found a job as a drafter at Simmons (Beautyrest) in Munster, Indiana. Much of the work she designed at Simmons is still being used today. When the family moved to Joliet, Rosie was hired as the first woman drafter to work at Texaco Worldwide. Throughout this time, she raised a young family and navigated a new country and culture. Rosie’s true skills and perseverance were showcased when she managed the family business for 18 years in South Holland, Illinois. She learned a new industry and a new customer base and she did it with grace, strength and patience. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Antonio, her children, Elaine (Shawn) Teter, and Roger (Jenny) Jundos and by her three grandchildren, Jack, Journey and Joselyn. She is also survived by her sisters, Leticia (Ross) Valenton, Teresita (Homer) Buñag, Violeta (Manuel) Nabong and Elsa (Epifanio) Sandoval.
Rosario was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Isagani, Carlos, Jr. and George. For further information please call the funeral home at 847-515-8772 or on-line condolences may be directed to www.defiorejorgensen.com
