Grace B. Kalish, 92 of Lake In The Hills, passed away on Monday morning, January 8, 2018 at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington.
She was born October 3, 1925 in Chicago, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Steiner) Swiontek. At an early age she developed a passion for singing and was blessed to have done a number of performances. She was united in marriage to John Kalish. The couple continued to make their home in Chicago where they raised their five girls. Grace worked for Cotter & Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. Following her husband’s death she moved to Bensenville, then later Dundee and Lake In The Hills. She enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling and especially time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Robert) Foy of Murfreesboro, Tennesse, Susan Mallek of Spring Hill, Florida, Peggy (Brian) Dusza of Austin, Texas, Patricia (Bernie) Ness of Woodstock, Georgia and Cathy (Rick) Broz of Algonquin, her grandchildren, Christa, Cynthia, Robert, Jason, Jenna, Eric, Erin, Shannon, Ashley and Erick and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Prayers will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13th in the chapel at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, JourneyCare Foundation, the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Lupus Foundation.
