Dear Loretta and Family I'm having the same mixed emotions that you are surely having...the loss of a close friend, great musician, and fellow patriot, veteran, and pilot...this combined with the great personal satisfaction of knowing and being close to one whose noteworthy and successful life we are remembering and celebrating. I plan to send Loretta a separate note of my own experiences and good times with Bill, in the Concert Band, Dance Band, and our unique friendship as pilots and military officers. For now, please accept my very heartfelt condolences, and my shared, true sense of loss, along with the smiles and comfort that come with just picturing and thinking about Bill, and what a good man he was to all of us. I regret that Joan and I cannot attend the services, as we are in Arizona attending my Mother-in-law. Our thoughts and prayers are yours. Sincerely, Jerry McClellan Sun City Concert Band Colonel, US Air Force (Retired)

John Lindstrom 2018-01-15 03:48:38

One oF Delta’s finest.

DOUG WOLFF 2018-01-15 05:08:22

As a new second officer at Delta, I knew it was a good day whenever I saw my name with Bill's on the flying schedule. Bill always found that perfect intersection of professionalism and an easy - going demeanor in his flight deck management style. When I became a captain many years later I tried to emulate Bill's approach to crew leadership, because the cooperative tone he set gave each crew member the confidence to fully contribute to the team's success. No better guy to fly with than Captain Bill Brindell. May God bless you all as you struggle through the sadness of your loss.

John OShea 2018-01-15 07:48:20

Great memories-great guy

BILL KERSCHNER 2018-01-15 09:32:27

A GRAND GENTLEMAN AND AN EXEMPLARY AVIATOR. ONE OF THE VERY BEST.

Dick Gardner 2018-01-15 09:46:01

Bill was one of the notable ORD "trouble makers" , a title we of the old Delta order wore as a badge of honor when it came to our relationship with the ATL bosses. I had the personal pleasure of working along side of him and sharing drinks and stories too. My condolences to the family. He was a good man, a pilot's pilot.

Terry Stewart 2018-01-15 10:24:48

The class of '54 did have a fine group of revered and respected as well as well liked members by most of the class, and Bill Brindell was one of them. Most of my school years were spent with Bill being one of my classmates. His being there made the class, and student body better. My best to the family in this trying time.

Gary Smith 2018-01-15 12:25:59

Dear Loretta, my deepest condolences to you and your family on Bill's passing. On reflection l was struck by how many parallels my life had with Bill. Born the same month, same schools from Jr. high thru college. Pilots in the military and airlines about the same length of time. Same retirement dates and I was based in Chicago for 7 years. Finally we both married our high school sweethearts! Bill will be missed by all! All my Love to you and your family.

So sorry to hear of Bills passing. He & I were members of Flight Training NAVCAD Class 16-58 in Pensacola together. I am so sorry I never reaquainted with Bill or met his family but Military service tends to separate aquaintences after training. I wish you the best and can only say that Bill was a great compatriate as I am sure a great family man. It has been 60 years since those days and I will surely miss him as will all those who knew him. We were young men full of vim & vigor and Bill was no exception. His success in life attests to his fortitude. What a guy!!!

Dear Loretta and Family: It is with sincere regret that we learned of Bill's passing. We served together for nearly three years in Marine Squadron VMA-224 and enjoyed several post-service occasions to reminisce and renew friendships. Brindy and I flew together on several training missions in VMA-224. He was a top-notch aviator and a pleasant companion with outstanding leadership qualities, a good sense of humor, and admirable musical skills. We shall miss his camaraderie at future squadron gatherings and will recall him with pleasant memories! May God bless you and your future, Jack & Gratia Lousma

Cliff Judkins 2018-01-16 20:39:32

What a great guy. Met him at Chase Field in Texas. We were both aviation cadets, both soon to be Marines. Met him 8 years later at Delta Air Lines, where we were both airline pilots. Remember that he loved to play that tenor sax in the shower room at Chase field. (he loved the acustics!). He always had a smile on his face. My sincere condolences to his family.

Bill, "Panda" and I as Lieutenants flew in Marine Attack Squadron 224 for 3 years during 1961-1963, starting out at MCAS Cherry Pt, NC and ending in the Far East at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, a squadron that set many a record for administration, flight time, weapons delivery, aircraft carrier landings day/night, 10,000 accident free hours. Panda was always a pleasure to fly with, excellent pilot, great Marine, laid back, fun to be around. A life well lived. I hope his last flight was with fair winds and following seas. Semper Fi.
