Obituary

Robert F. Koif, 79 of Algonquin, died peacefully, January 12, 2018 with his family by his side.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home -10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 1pm on Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
Robert was born June 7, 1938 the son of Martin and Anne (Waltztoni) Koif. From 1956-1959 he proudly served in the United States Navy. On October 28, 1961 he married Arleen Fabian. Early in his career he was a police officer for the Skokie Police Department and was a volunteer firefighter for Hoffmann Estates. Bob worked for NCR for 37 years. His greatest joy was watching his children and later grandchildren participate in all of their activities. He flew RC airplanes, fishing and volunteered as a tour boat driver at Homossasa Springs Wildlife State Park. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Arleen, his sons, Dean (Lisa) Koif, Scot (Michele) Koif and Marc (Carol) Koif, by his grandchildren, Megan, Ethan, Steven, Rory, Whitney, Everett and Emery. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Martin and grandson Remy.

rip brother. i was a volunteer from 1969 thru 1974 at station 1 on flagstaff. we didn't see too much of each other, other than training days and calls. rest in peace and keep an eye out for the firefighters.

So sorry for your loss. I knew Bob through his wife, Arleen, who I worked with. I'll remember his booming voice and smile on his face. Cherish the memories and continue to share stories of Bob, as a husband, father and grandfather, with each other.
